Minutes of the Nether Lochaber Community Council Meeting Tuesday 12th May 2026 – Nether Lochaber Church Hall 7.30pm

1. Apologies Stephen Copper and Thomas MacLennan.

2. Adoption of previous minutes; proposed by MMD, seconded by KC.

3. Matters arising from previous minutes.
I. MML sent an email to MaCOLL to inform them of the NLCC support.
II. MMD spoke to Tony from The Men’s Shed regarding the upgrading of noticeboards, he will check them out, but this may take some time to get round them all.

4. Police not present. We received an email from Stephen Cooper explaining the Police Scotland no longer expects their officers to attend CC meetings. Stephen Cooper would still like to attend, where possible, if he is available and on duty. The CC committee would very much appreciate this as we feel it is an asset to the community to keep regular communication with our local constabulary. The NLCC are grateful for Stephen Cooper’s regular correspondence and attendance.

5. Defibrillators
I. The defibrillators at Roam West and the Old Post Office are fully functional.
II. MML will explore another other options for housing of the defibrillator due to complications in Highland Council regulations attaching it to St Brides which we were unaware of until recently. MML will report back next month.
III. MMD circulated an estimate for defibrillator signage, unanimous agreement to proceed and order 3 signs and clips.

6. Ongoing, it will be added in about donations for upkeep of defibrillators.

7. Treasurers report
+£500 donation from Roam West towards defibrillators (receipt sent).
£1274.16 in the bank

8. Planning – no correspondence on the 3 current application within NL.

9. Village Hall – successful events – David Hamilton’s talk, the coffee morning. In the region of £1000 was raised between the 2 events. The next soup lunch is on Monday 18th May at 12.30.

10. AOCB

I. STLCA- Short term lets control area. There is a webinar for community councillors on the 19th May to explain more about this and as a community council we will be able to comment. CB will attend the webinar and report back.

11. Next meeting is 9th June at 7.30pm in the NL Church Hall.
