Project Officer Appointment

The Trustees of Nether Lochaber Community Association have some exciting news to share with you all. After years of hard work, planning, and dreaming we can now announce that the NLCA has taken community ownership of the barn from Forestry Land Scotland. Now that the barn is in our hands we can move forward to the next stage of development. We are in the process of securing funding for the next set of architectural drawings, and subsequent planning permission. This is the first time that our community has owned a building of this nature and we hope that it marks the start of a prosperous and resilient future full of opportunities for Nether Lochaber.

We would also like to welcome our new Project Officer Lucy Cooke to the organisation who joined the team earlier in the Autumn and has been quietly squirreling away in the background preparing for the announcement. She brings a wealth of knowledge in fundraising, development, and project management from her previous community work in the third sector and is looking forward to getting stuck in – “this is such an exciting project! The barn will be an amazing asset to the local community”. Lucy lives with her husband and baby across the water in Ardgour and also runs a foraging business across Lochaber which we hope will feature in Inchree at some point in the future. If you would like to get in touch with her or have a question about the project, please email lucy@communitycouncil.netherlochaber.org.uk.

Iain Jenner, one of the Trustees for the NLCA and chair of the Inchree barn steering group who has been working tirelessly on the project since its inception said “……

Our continued thanks go out to Scottish Land Fund, Forestry Land Scotland, and Inspiring Scotland for supporting the first exciting stages of the barns development.

If you are wondering how you can support the project or get involved – please head over to our dedicated page for more information"

A bright opportunity beckons for Nether Lochaber that it has not had before."
