Minutes of the Nether Lochaber Community Council inaugural meeting 14 October 2025 at 7.30pm in the NL Church Hall, in person and online
- Present; Thomas MacLennan TM, chairing meeting (online), Elizabeth MacLellan EML, Kathleen Cameron KC, Chris Boles CB, Marie MacLachlan MML, Marylin Macdonald MMD (online).
- Overview of CC’s as per the constitution. TM offered an in-depth description. It was acknowledged that all present had prior knowledge and access to all details related to roles, responsibilities and guidelines to be adhered to.
- Adoption of constitution and standing orders as set out in the Scheme of establishment. All members can access all information and copies of which are accessible to all on the NLCC website
- Appointment of office bearers
- Chairperson; MMD proposed by MML, seconded by EML.
- Secretary; MML proposed by KC, seconded by EML. (MML cited lack of time causing hesitance in agreeing to the position. CB has kindly agreed to assist with some duties of the role)
- Treasurer; EML proposed by MML, seconded by KC.
- Associate membership a possibility within the community.
- Dates for future meetings-2nd Tuesday of each month,11th November 2025 at 7.30pm is the next meeting date. Meetings will be available online as well as in person every month. The NLCC has set out dates up until the next AGM in 2026. These dates are available online to view also.

- CB enquired about the ratio of members of the CC. TM spoke with Dot Ferguson for confirmation. The NLCC can continue operating as usual.
- MLM asked about associate members, TM states that associate members may be appointed by majority vote served a fixed period that is agreed upon. This applies to under 16’s or groups within the community that are key within the community. 2 youth members between the ages of 16-18 can become associate members in conjunction with local high school and youth workers and appointed for a 2-year term.
- CB asked if we could have another election in spring. TM referred to the scheme of establishment. TM will speak to Jane Young and Dot Ferguson and email all members with answers as soon as possible.

(Note: Next meeting will begin an hour earlier at 6.30pm on Tue 11th November to accommodate MMD with the time difference in the Middle East. Agenda will follow appropriately).
