NLCC Meeting 5th Oct 2023 at 1930hrs
1. Present – Dave Wrigglesworth DW, Brian Pearson BP, Marylin Macdonald MMD, Marie MacLachlan MML, Karl Spierling KS.
Apologies – Anne Marie Cameron AM, Lisa Glaze LG.
2. Proposal of minutes - BP seconded- MMD.
3. Treasurers report – Same as last month £3787.00
4. Planning – No items.
5. Matter Arising
I. CA update – All documentation signed to exchange contracts to purchase the barn on the 23rd October for £1. The new employee is getting on well.
II. Village Hall – next meeting on 17th Oct in NL church hall at 1930hrs.
III. This is our last meeting, everyone must stand down and the CC dissolves on the 10th of Oct, reassembled on the 11th Oct, uncontested. Next meeting on November 2nd in Nether Lochaber Church hall at 1930hrs.
IV. AM has sadly resigned after 25yrs service on the CC.
V. We are looking for another member to join. We invite applicants to attend the next meeting.
VI. We need new signatories and outdated signatories removed MML has volunteered to be a signatory.
VII. Cuilchenna notice board still not up, it serves 53 residents, many holiday makers also. DW and KS will put it up.
VIII. Land under Ballachulish Bridge, Bear have responded to say they will look at it. Ongoing. DW has written to all councillors regarding the matter. No response from the landowner. Canmore governs the cairn that is within the land.
IX. Bear Scotland – subsidence north of Onich Stores, this has been looked at, the action on the matter is unknown. Also, the lack of signage coming into North Ballachulish, this has been noted. DW will keep at this situation, looking for a resolution.
X. Multi use path, Kate Willis is helping DW to find out exactly what the contract entails regarding responsibilities. Bear have been sending letters to residents about their overgrown greenery on to the multi-use path. AP
XI. Kate Ward asked about the works at Alt Nan Ros. DW will enquire about resurfacing also.
XII. Communities housing trust, Fiona Sorley will be attending a future meeting to discuss with the CC when she has more information.
XIII. Buses not stopping, this matter has been resolved. MML spoke to a very helpful person at Shiel buses and Old town road is a designated stop. MML to speak to Citylink to see if they can make the same guarantees.
XIV. Planning rules. DW is currently discussing this matter with the Community Alliance. This is an ongoing matter; our limitations and authority will be established in due course. As a CC, we will continue to look at all relevant planning applications on our area.
6. AOB
I. Corran Ferry Steering group works with HC, Corran Ferry Action group is looking for direct action. There is a steering group meeting on the 9th Oct, DW to attend and updates will be made on the status of the MV Corran.
II. BP brought up the land at Old Ferry Road, DW has enquired to the council as to who owns the land.
III. MML - has brought up recycling and the restrictions at our local recycling plant.
IV. MMD - received a call from David Robertson, he has located the An Drochit sign. MMD stated they needed a sign at the top of the waterfall and the entrance for An Drochit also and would need to clear the entrance. She also brought up the information at the car park.
V. MMD- There has been a squirrel found dead and another trapped. It has been requested to check more often. KS walks past daily and will check. The squirrel boxes need cleaned. DW will try to clean the boxes in situ.
VI. Collectively, everyone agreed how we will sorely miss AM’s input and local knowledge. Over the years Anne Marie has done so much for the community and we are so grateful to her for her time. Undoubtably, we will still be in touch for her wealth of local knowledge.
