Barn Cropped A

March 2024 News Update

Dear NLCA Member,

  1. Inchree Barn Funding News

Rebrand+logo+for+social+media+We have some good funding news!  We received £500 to host a walking engagement event with refreshments from the Highlands and Islands Climate Hub. Join us on a walk around the paths connecting the Inchree Barn with our community. Let’s explore our culture, history, and environment and at the same time come up with ideas on how the Barn project can celebrate the area and support our residents. We will arrive in Roam West at 12 pm for some free refreshments. If you are unable to do the walk, please feel free to come for the lunch only. We are launching our latest questionnaire too, so please let us know what you think by filling it out! It will be accessible at the event and online afterwards. Paper copies are available by request.

Where: Inchree Barn

When: Saturday the 30th of March 10.30 am

Who: Anyone living or walking in Nether Lochaber

Also: if you don't fancy the walk, come for some free food Roam West at 12 pm!

Please let us know if you are coming so we can make sure there are enough sandwiches!!! Email me at: sharon@communitycouncil.netherlochaber.org.uk

CesWe are also pleased to report that we have been successful in our application to Crown Estate Scotland, who have awarded £47,000 ‘To progress the transformation of a local abandoned barn into a community hub, creating a viable concept design for the barn and ensuring that all legal and regulatory requirements are in place.’ In other words, this funding will contribute to the next stage of architectural drawings for the design of the barn.

This success in being granted these funds is thanks to Lucy, our Project Officer, for the efforts she has put into our funding applications which are bearing fruit!

  1. Activity Day

The next activity day will be on Sunday 7th April 2024 at 10 am.  There are various tasks needing done around the area, so tasks will be allocated on the day.

With thanks to everyone who came along and helped tidy the picnic site on 3rd March.
