Minutes of the Nether Lochaber Community Council Meeting Tuesday 9th June 2026 – Nether Lochaber Church Hall 7.30pm

- MML has spoken to the Manager or Gleaner and will meet next week to discuss location. MML will collect the defib from St Brides and EML has kindly offered to store it until installation. MMD confirms the signs are up for the defib at Roam West.
- STLCA – CB attended the webinar and circulated the power point from the webinar. The CC will now receive every application now required for properties to becomeaSTL. The NLCC would recommend that anyone concerned reads up on this and takes part in the consultation. Views sought on proposals to introduce Short Term Let Control Areas in Highland - Highland Council

- Newsletter – MML hopes to have it ready by the 16th of June. CB suggests the NLCC offers the NLCA if they wish to add a newsletter of their own that we could post out with ours. The NLVH will be adding a page to our mail drop. MML will find out about a stamp with “Community newsletter”. MMD will find out from Ann Marie how many households there are. The NLCC is very grateful to Don Michie for printing all our newsletters.

EML advised that the Highland Council annual grant this year would be £760.91 which was an increase of £350 on last year. HC had confirmed payment would be made in the next couple of weeks.
- Planning–Loch Leven Fish Farm, change of equipment; all members have concerns regarding the impact but nothing substantial to object at this time.
- Village Hall update- Monthly meetings continue.
Ongoing funding applications.
Active fundraising every month.
AGM was held in April.
Next soup & Sandwich is the 15th of June.
The next meeting is on 9th July at 7.30pm in the NL Church Hall.

MMD contacted the roads dept in Dingwall regarding a serious accident involving a resident in the community caused by overhanging hedge in Onich between Glenshellach road end and Gollanfield. The overgrowth has since been cut back.
MML and MMD were both approached by St Brides Parent Council members regarding the reduction of a PSA post at St Brides.Both MML and MMD explained to each request that this wasn’t a matter that the NLCC would get involved in. The level of PSA hours allocated is a specific matter between the School, Head Teacher and Education Authority based on individual needs of pupils.
